Dr. Elyanne Ratcliffe grew up in Hamilton, Ontario and undertook her undergraduate and medical studies at McMaster University.  She trained in Pediatrics at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto and completed her subspecialty in Pediatric Gastroenterology at Columbia University, where she undertook a postdoctoral fellowship in the field of developmental neurogastroenterology.

Dr. Ratcliffe returned to McMaster in 2007 to join the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Gastroenterology and Nutrition, where she is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics.  She applies her interests in gastrointestinal motility, developmental biology and nutrition by serving as the Medical Director of the Feeding and Swallowing Team (FAST) Clinic.

Dr. Ratcliffe has an active research program and supervises both undergraduate and graduate students in the laboratory.  She is a full member of the Farncombe Family Digestive Health Research Institute and an associate member in the Department of Biology.  Her research program is based on her combined clinical experience and research interests in neurogastroenterology, and focuses on the developmental programming and function of the gut-brain axis.
